The Mid-Region Council of Governments recently released its 2040 Socioeconomic Forecast for the region, projecting population growth and the number of housing units and jobs that will come online over the next 25 years.

The forecast is updated every four years to help decision-makers with future transportation needs, land use planning and policy writing.

Overall, the region's population growth won't be as robust as previously reported in other MRCOG reports. The region includes Bernalillo, Sandoval, Santa Fe, Torrance and Valencia counties. Those counties are expected to grow by 460,000 people to reach 1.375 million by 2040. That projection is about 240,000 fewer people than previous projections. Click here to read more.
