Workplace Trends Broker-Owners Should Know

Technology is reshaping the real estate industry in more ways than one. Brokers looking to attract new, tech-savvy agents and staff should take note of some workplace trends and tools that are becoming more commonplace — even expected, according to Allison & Taylor, a Michigan-based company that offers reference and background check services.

New Internal Communications Tools.

Overflowing email inboxes and the rise of text messaging has ushered in a new era of workplace messaging platforms that offer live chat, video conferencing, the ability to share files, collaboration tools, and more, according to Allison & Taylor. Apps like Slack or HipChat are replacing traditional emails.

Well-Being Programs and Culture.

When it comes to employees, more companies are offering flexible schedules, work-from-home arrangements, as well as wellness initiatives, reduced emphasis on business attire, and more. This could be one area that sets your brokerage apart. While compensation has traditionally been the leading prerequisite for job seekers, according to Allison & Taylor, the desire for workplace flexibility has risen dramatically, yet only about one-third of global corporations offer such flexibility.

Virtual Reality Tools for Recruiting and Training.

You’ve likely known about or used virtual reality to showcase listing, but what about using similar tools at the office?  Allison & Taylor says General Mills has developed a virtual reality tour of their offices to showcase the company to prospective employees at corporate job fairs. These tools could also be used in agent training and development.
