I want to thank City Councilor Trudy Jones for halting this legislation and for working toward a solution or resolution to this terrible piece of legislation. Send a note to councilor Jones thanking her and letting her know we appreciate the fact that we will be able to discuss this bill with the City Council.

Become involved in government affairs. Contact your city councilor to repeal this legislation and vote those officials that are not responsive to the publics opinion out. WE NEED TO PROTECT PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS AND FIGHT UNCONSTITUITIONAL LEGISLATION!!! Tax Lightning and this new legislation hurts buyer's and sellers. When I get the opportunity I let my clients, customers, friends know that as a Realtor I opposed this legislation and did send emails to those officials in office and they should consider it also. I urge you that if you feel the same way you make that call or send that email.

This type of legislation is absurd and is why we need to hold our city councilors, legislators, senators and congressmen accountable. Too many times these elected officials think they need to pass "feel good legislation" and they don't look at the consequences or impact this will carry to the public or local business. They don't care about the publics opinion it's all about them. Who are the "Toilet Police"? Where is the funding coming from for enforcement? What about private property rights? If you look at what the public has done in "water conservation" over the years we have done one heck of a job. This is nothing but revenue generation for the municipal governments to try to bail themselves out of poor fiscal management.

It's alarming to think they had three years to figure this out and it's still murky. In theory it may have been a good idea, but it's ill-conceived, poorly enforceable, and just creates busy work for disinterested parties. At least we won't be thrown in the pokey over a toilet so that's progress.
Maybe the Forms Committee can come up with a RANM form for buyers and treat it like FRPTA and the tax levy complete with explanation and instructions on what to do. If it's going to be a law fine, but we are merely the messengers, not the enforcers.

A homeless guy jokingly asked me if he could get the tax credit on his new cardboard box. I love open houses. You never know what you're gonna get! I gave him a Form 5405 and sent him on his way.

I'm down with growth in the housing market. Especially growth in the average sales price. Albuquerque realtors know what I mean...

With the first time homebuyer tax credit in place its our job as realtors to reach out to the public and guide fence sitters toward homeownership and a hefty tax credit. First time homebuyer seminars? Sounds like a plan!
