Area 240 is located east of Albuquerque in the East Mountains. The Area boundaries are defined as North of Tijeras, South of Frost Road, East of Gutierrez Canyon and West of Highway 217.

The Tijeras area is part of the Albuquerque Public Schools District. Within this public school district there is 1 elementary school (A Montoya), 1 middle school (Roosevelt) and 1 high school (Manzano).

This area offers quick access to Interstate 40, Cibola National Forest, Sandia Peak Ski Area and is minutes from Albuquerque.
