I’m amaze at the number of people who overlook Credit Unions when financing/refinancing their home. The public should absolutely consider Credit Unions when comparing “Good Faith Estimates” from other lenders. I’m currently refinancing my 2nd mortgage note to 5.5% from 6.5%. There are ZERO processing fees, so my APR is 5.5%. That’s a huge saving!!!

Mr. Perkins, your article about credit unions is perfectly TRUE. I think they seem more like heroes. The professionalism, lending ethics, and personal attention they apply in their services, has been an utmost benefit not only to my buyers, but also my customers who need refinancing. the CU we have utilized has FHA, Conventional, First Time home buyers 100% financing, Jumbo, Construction, and manufactured housing loans to name a few. They assist members with credit issues, and treat customers with personal care. Their other lending products make it possible to keep one's financial needs all in one place. Nothing better than coming home to old fashioned honest, neighborly service. In my last 10 yrs. experience with real estate sales and home retention consulting, I have only experienced 2 homeowners in pre-foreclosure who had credit union loans. I have assisted over 200 families in hardship in the last 2 yrs alone. CU's have a strong back-bone. Thanks for the educating the public.
