Green Home Resource Guide

Image for Green Home Resource Guide This morning, GAAR Chairman Don Padilla joined Bob Clark on the KKOB Radio Show to discuss the 'green' movement in real estate. Sustainability is all the buzz in consumer products nationwide, and it makes sense that home buyers are interested in homes that are more environmentally friendly, and therefore easier on the pocketbook. In fact, a McGraw-Hill Smart market Report predicted that by 2010, green homes will account for 10% of new homes built annually compared to 2% in 2006. This trend is being driven by rising consumer demand, and home sellers are also responding by looking for ways to improve their current properties to make them more green. Whether you are a home buyer, home seller, or REALTOR® the links below will provide you with a wealth of information about going green in real estate.

Great information. In the Albuquerque area we a lucky to have two builders offereing LEED certified homes for under 200k and at least one other that now offers a product that, while not LEED certified incorporates many of the features that are the most meaningful for buyers looking fr sustainably built homes including great insulation, windows and doors, properly sized, EnergyStar rated HVAC systems and appliances and a well sealed envelope.
