Join GAAR on Friday, December 2nd for a day of educational classes and fundraising (Zoom Only) with proceeds benefiting the Real Estate Community Political Action Committee (RECPAC).  The RECPAC Committee is composed of GAAR and CARNM members who educate City and County officials on local issues that affect the consumer and the real estate industry. They also help introduce members to their elected officials through roundtables, receptions and meet-and-greets.

NMREC 2022 Core Course (4 CE – Education – Core Course)
Instructor: Bob Treece
This course meets the 2022 NMREC Core Course requirement. This course replaced the NMREC Mandatory Course and needs to be completed annually to maintain your license. 

"Back to the Basics" is the theme of the 2022 NMREC Core Course. Topics for this course include: the broker duties of reasonable care and disclosure of adverse material facts, Associate Broker responsibilities, Transaction Coordinators and disclosure, avoiding the unauthorized practice of law and more. Brokers will dissect real estate scenarios to deepen their understanding of the how the basics should be applied to real life scenarios. Hot topics in real estate will be covered as well, reflecting the changes and challenges of the industry including information from NMAR Legal Counsel Ashley Strauss Martin. 

Undestanding and Using NMAR Forms (8 CE – Core Elective)

NAR Code of Ethics and Enforcement (4 CE – Ethics Elective)
Instructor:  Jennifer Cody Martin
Be proactive in completing this requirement. Avoid crowded classes, wait lists, and many other last-minute complications and inconveniences by taking NAR Code of Ethics & Enforcement at GAAR. The Code of Ethics is the foundation of the REALTOR® organization and provides the standards of practice and professionalism that customers expect and deserve.

Basics of Title in New Mexico (2 CE – Core Elective)
Instructor:  Scott Florez
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the New Mexico Real Estate Broker with the basics of title process in New Mexico –starting with the title search/examination; issuance of the title commitment and issuance of the Owner’s Title Insurance Policy.

Fair Housing (4 CE – Core Elective)
Instructor:  Bill McCoy
Discrimination can be subtle or overt and sometimes unintentional. It is crucial that real estate practitioners are aware of and compliant with the laws that govern housing discrimination. This course looks at the history of The Fair Housing Act of 1968 was the first major legislation that applied to residential housing. The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 broadened the coverage, increased the enforcement policies of the Act and stiffened the penalties invoked for violation of the Act. The course will also examine: The New Mexico Human Rights Act and detail the additional classes that it offers protection to. Specific advertising policies are investigated and illustrated. The procedure for filing a complaint of discrimination is studied in detail. Plus, there are lots of hints on how to stay clear of discriminatory practices in sales, rentals and financing of real estate.
