Get More Mileage from Your Web Site

Getting the most from a Web site is increasingly important. At Real Estate Connect, Vanessa Fox, who formerly worked for both Goggle and Zillow.com, offered easy-to-follow tips for practitioners.
Here are a few of her ideas:
1. Use video. Fox says that in September 2009, 40 percent of 26 billion Web views were on YouTube.
2. Use single search terms. Fox pointed out that 24 percent of searches use only one word and 23 percent use two.
3. Don’t waste Web real estate. Eyeballs go to the upper-left corner of your site. Use that space for something that will pay off.
4. Use how-to pages. Pages that tell people things like “how-to-calculate closing costs” keep people on your site and coming back.
