GAAR and Gandhi?

Through the REinvent Speaker Series, the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® is proud to bring Arun Gandhi to Albuquerque to share his riveting and unique reflections on the personal and historical legacy of his grandfather, Mohandas "Mahatma" Gandhi.

Join Arun as he sets forth a message of integrity, social harmony, nonviolence, inclusion and peace not just in the wake of terrorism, international conflicts, and immigration debates on a national and global level, but the everyday religious, political, and ideological differences that can divide our communities and our state.

Arun continues his grandfather’s work to help us look beyond the differences to “become the change they wish to see.” Open to the public, all are invited to join Arun Gandhi as he teaches us to develop the inner resources and practical skill needed to achieve a mindful, sustainable and just approach to building bridges in our community – whether that is local, national or around the world.

Representatives from local charitable foundations will be on hand to discuss how we can “become the change” within our community and GAAR will show how REALTORS® have been building the Central New Mexico community since 1921.

About Arun Gandhi

Activist and diversity speaker Arun Gandhi is the founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and the grandson of the legendary peace fighter and spiritual leader, Mohandas "Mohatma" Gandhi.  Born and raised in apartheid-era South Africa, Gandhi was sent to India when he was 12 to live with his grandfather, where he observed firsthand the profound national campaign for liberation through nonviolent means.

Following his visit to India, Arun Gandhi went on to lead successful economic and social reforms in India. He then came to the United States, where he and his late wife Sunanda founded the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence. The Institute's goals are to further the study and practice of nonviolence while also providing a unique source of information about Mohandas Gandhi and his work. By continuing his grandfather's legacy, Arun Gandhi has been able to provide insight into one of history's most influential leaders and has continued to stress the importance of nonviolence across the globe.
