Albuquerque Public Schools $350M Bond Approved

Voters within APS approved infrastruction improvements to:

  • Upgrade cooling systems at 20 campuses
  • Build a new center for special needs students on the West Side
  • Construct a facility to train students in skilled trades like plumbing, welding, and carpentry

The bond will be repaid using an already-approved mill levy, so there’s no impact on current property tax rates.

Why It Matters for Members

These offices—especially the Mayor, City Council, and APS Board—play key roles in decisions that impact growth policy, housing affordability, land use, education infrastructure, and community investment. Having clarity on the winners (and upcoming run‑offs) means GAAR can proactively engage with newly elected or continuing officials about real‑estate issues, zoning policy, and strategic community partnerships.

With the APS Board outcomes now visible, GAAR members have a clearer picture of who will influence educational infrastructure, district planning, and ultimately how neighborhood values and development might be impacted.

Run‑off Alert

The upcoming run‑off between Keller and White is crucial — only one will lead the city for the next term. The Election Run‑off is set for December 9, 2025.
