GAAR’s Next Steps for Political Engagement

Re: GAAR’s Future Political Engagement

Dear GAAR Members:

We are writing to share important news about the future of GAAR, our future political engagement and our renewed focus on RPAC.

For the past twenty years, RECPAC, the Real Estate Community Political Action Committee, has supported REALTOR® political engagement in the Greater Albuquerque area. After careful review and thoughtful discussion, GAAR’s leadership determined that while RECPAC has served an important purpose, it has reached a natural point of evolution. As GAAR has grown and its political engagement strategy has matured, the Board of Directors recognized that it was time to reevaluate the structure of our political engagement efforts to better serve the needs and priorities of GAAR’s members.

GAAR has therefore decided to transition its political engagement activities to direct Association oversight and to pursue a local advocacy structure that is more responsive to the needs of our members and the communities we serve. This approach will allow GAAR to better focus its advocacy efforts within the Greater Albuquerque area and respond more effectively to local political opportunities and challenges.

This decision reflects a positive evolution of our political engagement strategy, not a retreat from it. GAAR remains fully committed to REALTOR® advocacy with a renewed focus on RPAC fundraising; supporting our REALTOR® Party Champions, protecting private property rights, and engaging meaningfully in the political process. This transition will allow us to be more focused, more nimble, and more responsive to the issues affecting our members and the local real estate community.

We want to express our deep gratitude to the many volunteers who have served as RECPAC Trustees over the past two decades. Their dedication to REALTOR® advocacy and commitment to building strong relationships with elected officials has created a powerful foundation for GAAR’s future efforts.

In the coming weeks, GAAR will provide additional details about its advocacy efforts and the future opportunities for member participation. We are confident the energy and focus this transition will bring to our association's work will strengthen our advocacy efforts.

Thank you for your continued support of GAAR and the REALTOR® Party. Together, we will continue to ensure that REALTORS® have a strong voice in the political process.

Sincerely,

Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS®
Board of Directors
