NM Living Features Good Neighbors Chad and Dana Akenhead

As recipients of the Good Neighbor Award, Dana and Chad Akenhead joined Kristina Martinez, Director of Development at the Presbyterian Ear Institute, on New Mexico Living to discuss the vital work the organization does for children and families experiencing hearing loss.

The Akenheads shared their personal connection to the cause, having first encountered the Institute’s services when their own daughter faced hearing challenges. Now, as long-time supporters and volunteers, they’re paying it forward by helping ensure other families receive the same life-changing resources and support.

The Presbyterian Ear Institute (PEI) is dedicated to helping individuals with hearing loss achieve listening and spoken language skills. Through advanced audiology services, cochlear implant support, and specialized early education programs, PEI empowers children and adults to communicate more fully and participate in everyday life. Their mission focuses on providing access to critical hearing technology and education, especially for families navigating hearing challenges.
