NMAR 2026 Annual Conference: Highlights from Las Cruces

REALTORS® and Association Executives from across New Mexico gathered in Las Cruces August 18–21 for the NMAR 2026 Annual Conference, bringing members together for education, networking, leadership, and celebration.

2026 NMAR Central District Vice President Sherry Fowler stopped by GAAR to share a recap of the conference, including award recipients, newly elected leaders, Board and Membership decisions, and other highlights from the week.

Awards & Recognition

The Celebration Gala recognized several individuals for their service and leadership within the REALTOR® community.

Tim MacEachen was named the 2026 NMAR REALTOR® of the Year, while Caroline Russell received the Peggy Comeau Leadership Award. Kim Clark, Association Executive for the Silver City Regional Association of REALTORS®, was also recognized for 30 years of Association service, making her the longest-serving Association Executive in New Mexico.

The evening also raised more than $5,000 for the NMAR Benevolent Fund through its silent auction.

Looking Ahead to 2027

During the conference, Amparo Usrey of Gallup was confirmed as NMAR's 2027 President, with Joshua Price of Albuquerque confirmed as President-Elect.

Several other members were elected to leadership positions, including GAAR's own Sherry Fowler as First Vice President and Christopher Shain Tanner as Central District Vice President.

The New Mexico Real Estate Education Foundation, REALTORS® Political Action Committee of New Mexico, and Benevolent Fund also elected officers and Board members for 2027.

Board & Membership Updates

The NMAR Board of Directors addressed several business items during the conference, including approving the 2025 Audit with no findings, the 2027 Dues and Fees Schedule, and the selection of Form Simplicity as NMAR's member-benefit forms provider.

Members also approved several Bylaw amendments, including the creation of a new Member-at-Large District and an Individual REALTOR® Vice President position representing Members-at-Large. Additional amendments addressed Board and election procedures and clarified that NMAR's harassment policy also protects guests attending NMAR functions.

The Legislative Committee also approved its 2027 Quality of Life Statements and Legislative Priorities and created seven task forces focused on various policy areas.
