New No-Show Policy for Free CE Courses Begins in June 2026
Starting in June, GAAR will implement a $15 NO-SHOW FEE for members who register for no-cost CE courses and do not attend, without notifying the Education Department. This applies to popular offerings like the Speaker Series and Legal Updates, where demand is high, and seating is limited.
These classes often fill up quickly, and the Education Department regularly receives calls from members hoping to attend after registration has filled. At the same time, we’ve seen instances where up to 40% of registered attendees do not check in on the day of the course. That means open seats go unused while others are turned away.
Avoid The Fee
If your schedule changes, reply to your registration or reminder email to let us know you can’t attend at least 24 hours prior to the start of class. It’s a quick step that opens a seat for another member and helps make better use of available space.
We understand that showings, inspections, and closings can come up unexpectedly. Real estate doesn’t always follow a calendar. Still, a quick email goes a long way in keeping these high-demand classes accessible to more members.
The Best Outcome Is Zero Fees Collected
This policy is not intended to generate fee income. The goal is to encourage simple, professional habits that benefit the entire membership. When members release their seats if they cannot attend, it allows others the opportunity to participate and keeps these high-demand courses accessible. A small step like sending a quick email helps create a more reliable registration process and ensures that available seats are actually used.
