GAAR Past President Christopher Shain Tanner is bringing together two worlds he knows well: real estate leadership and combat sports.

This October, Shain will represent GAAR at the 2026 CREDA New Mexico Fight Night, taking place Friday, October 16, at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Shain won't be stepping into the ring as a newcomer. An experienced Muay Thai fighter, he's bringing years of combat sports experience to one of New Mexico's most unique real estate industry events.

Real Estate Professionals Trade Business Suits for Boxing Gloves

CREDA New Mexico Fight Night brings together professionals from across New Mexico's commercial real estate and development community for an evening of networking and amateur boxing.

Selected fighters commit to three months of professional training before facing off in a professionally produced bout in front of a sold-out crowd.

For 2026, fighters will train at Jackson Wink MMA Academy, Albuquerque's internationally recognized combat sports gym that has trained elite UFC champions and professional fighters. Participants receive fully paid training and access to Jackson Wink's experienced coaching team as they prepare for Fight Night.

For Shain, the training will build on an already strong foundation. His Muay Thai experience means he understands the discipline, conditioning and preparation required to compete. Now, he'll put those skills to work with a new goal: representing GAAR under the Fight Night lights.

Representing GAAR In and Out of the Ring

Shain is no stranger to representing the REALTOR® community.

As GAAR's 2025 President and a longtime volunteer leader, he has served the Association through leadership, advocacy and industry involvement. His participation in Fight Night offers a different way to represent GAAR while strengthening connections with Albuquerque's broader commercial real estate and development community.

The setting may be different, but qualities like preparation, discipline and determination translate pretty well from association leadership to the ring.

Although this time, the dress code includes gloves.
