Southwest MLS is raising the bar on consumer protection with a renewed partnership that brings advanced fraud detection technology directly to its subscribers.
Beginning in January, Property Shield will provide comprehensive fraud monitoring and data compliance services to approximately 4,300 Southwest MLS subscribers across the Albuquerque area at no additional cost.
This partnership reflects Southwest MLS’s ongoing commitment to protecting both real estate professionals and the consumers they serve. As fraudulent listings, rental scams, and unauthorized data use become more sophisticated, MLS-led solutions play a critical role in maintaining trust in the real estate marketplace.
“Providing Property Shield’s fraud detection to our subscribers at no additional cost demonstrates our commitment to protecting both our members and the consumers they serve,” said Teri Hatcher, 2026 Southwest MLS President. “We’re proud to lead on consumer protection in Albuquerque.”
Property Shield’s platform actively identifies and removes fraudulent listings while helping MLS organizations reduce liability risks tied to bad actors and misuse of listing data. For Southwest MLS subscribers, this means an added layer of protection for their professional reputation and greater confidence for consumers navigating the housing market.
“Southwest MLS is a forward-thinking organization that understands the critical importance of protecting their market,” said Alex Fahsel, CEO of Property Shield. “This partnership will have a meaningful impact on the Albuquerque real estate community, helping agents protect their professional reputation while ensuring consumers are safeguarded from increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.”
With this addition, Property Shield now supports a national network of MLS partners protecting more than 90,000 real estate professionals. The platform enables MLSs to strengthen consumer trust while supporting brokers and subscribers with proactive, technology-driven fraud prevention.
This announcement underscores the growing role of MLS organizations in leading fraud prevention, data compliance, and consumer protection efforts. By integrating modern fraud detection tools into subscriber benefits, Southwest MLS and Property Shield are helping combat rental scams, fake listings, and unauthorized data use, while reinforcing trust across the Albuquerque real estate market. As fraud risks continue to evolve, partnerships like this show how MLSs can stay one step ahead and keep both professionals and consumers protected.
