Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® donate 500 Backpacks to APS Title 1 Students

Albuquerque, NM (August 1, 2018) – For the second year, REALTORS®, Affiliates and staff from the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® donated backpacks to APS Title 1 homeless students for the upcoming school year. Over 500 new backpacks, and an additional $870 for supplies, was delivered to aid Albuquerque-area students of all ages whose families are struggling with homelessness and poverty.
The GAAR Community Relations Committee coordinated the six-week endeavor by promoting the drive to its membership. “We are thrilled to see so many of our members come together to support such an important program in our community. We hope by sending these children off to school with a new backpack and supplies that we can provide a positive start to the school year, so they can focus on being successful in the classroom,” said Danny Wm. Vigil, 2018 President of the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS®.
Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Title I Homeless Project provides homeless students both basic services as well as the education that is necessary to avoid poverty as adults. Local businesses and organizations volunteer in countless ways including collection drives to supply much needed hygiene products, snacks, backpacks and other items needed.
