GAAR President Update: June 2026

GAAR President Chris Venegas is back with the June President Update, covering recent Board actions, the CEO search, national advocacy efforts, and news from the National Association of REALTORS®.

Policy Updates

Policy review and modernization remain a priority for the GAAR Board of Directors in 2026. Most recently, the Board updated GAAR’s Professional Standards Policies to align with NAR guidelines and adopted a new Confidentiality Policy to help protect information and discussions shared by members serving on GAAR committees and the Board.

CEO Search Underway

Following CEO Ryan Swinney’s announcement that he will be leaving GAAR, the Board has begun the process of identifying and recruiting the association’s next Chief Executive Officer. Ryan will remain with GAAR through mid-August to help support a smooth transition.

Advocating for Housing in Washington, D.C.

GAAR leadership recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the NAR Legislative Meetings, where they met with New Mexico’s congressional delegation to discuss housing inventory and affordability. Conversations included support for the More Homes on the Market Act and the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, two legislative efforts aimed at expanding housing opportunities.

News from the NAR Board

The NAR Board of Directors voted to keep national dues unchanged for 2027.

GAAR also has another reason to celebrate: GAAR member Hubert Hill was officially named NAR Region XI Vice President for 2027. This leadership role provides an important opportunity to bring a local perspective to the national stage. Congratulations, Hubert!
