Setting the Record Straight: REALTORS® Are Community Partners — Not “Dirty Money”

Albuquerque’s real estate professionals are proud to serve, support, and strengthen the communities they call home.

Recent campaign messages have mischaracterized the Real Estate Community Political Action Committee (RECPAC) and housing-related organizations as “dirty money” or “greedy corporations.” That claim couldn’t be further from reality.

RECPAC, comprised of GAAR and CARNM members represent thousands of hardworking New Mexicans—REALTORS®, property managers, builders, and housing providers—who live and invest right here in Albuquerque. These are small-business owners, volunteers, and community leaders who dedicate their time and resources to ensuring that housing in our city is safe, fair, and attainable.

Every contribution made through RECPAC is publicly disclosed, fully compliant with campaign finance laws, and reflects a transparent, community-driven effort to support candidates who understand housing issues, property rights, and balanced growth.

Labeling lawful and transparent participation as “dirty money” doesn’t just misrepresent our members—it discourages civic engagement and distracts from the real work of addressing Albuquerque’s housing challenges.

The Real Estate Community’s Commitment

Our members work every day to:

  • Expand access to safe, quality, and affordable housing
  • Promote fairness and transparency in rental practices
  • Support responsible development that strengthens neighborhoods and fosters economic vitality
Commitment to Open Dialogue

RECPAC regularly invites candidates—regardless of political affiliation or campaign funding choice—to meet and discuss housing policy issues important to Albuquerque residents.
Over the years, Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn has been invited multiple times to meet with RECPAC and has not responded to any of those invitations.

Our door remains open to every candidate who is willing to engage in constructive dialogue about housing, growth, and community well-being.

Respectful Debate, Real Solutions

We respect every candidate’s right to choose their campaign path, including those who use public financing. What matters most is that Albuquerque voters have access to honest, informed discussions about policies that affect where we live, work, and raise our families.

As a matter of policy, the National Association of REALTORS® and its affiliated organizations do not engage in negative advertising. Our focus remains on education, advocacy, and constructive participation in the political process.

Our Shared Goal

GAAR, CARNM, and RECPAC remain committed to one purpose: Advocating for policies that expand housing opportunity, protect property rights, and help Albuquerque thrive—for everyone.
